Setting and change
‘’Joseph was told that he and his people would have to leave the Wallowa forever and live on the reservation in Idaho.’’ They have to leave because the white men are making them leave there valley because the white men are taking over their land and the Indians of Nez Perce and white has had many councils of who can stay and who can leave but the whites one even though the Wallowa land of Nez Perce was there first. ‘’Today was the saddest day day for the Nez Perce they were leaving the Wallowa valley for ever they could never return or there would be murders and killing.’’ This is a good monomyth because there is good change and setting in the book. ‘’They were in Idaho going to Montana.’’for freedom from the whites and no war. I think setting and change make it adventurous because you get to know there adventures through out the book. And it shows better challenges along the way like packing up everyday walking or horse back riding for a hole straight day with not that many stops. And being safe form the war and not letting the white men near them.
Soun tetoken is a nice kid and smart because he taught how to train his stallion with sign language because he doesn’t talk. He is always willing to help others in the Nez Perce tribe.who are sick, wounded or in need.
‘’People were amazed of how Soun Tetoken was training his stallion with sign language.’’
You could feel how amazing a young boy who didn’t talk and could teach his own little stallion sign language instead of talking to train a horse.
‘’I would give his special stallion to save the chief’s grandson.’’He gave his horse to save the chief's grandson who got hit with a bullet during the war it hit him on the side of the head that was bleeding a lot.’’
He is thoughtful to others in his Nez Perce tribe.
¨With his extra time he helped families make camp for the night he helped the wounded , sick, and old people.’’
Helps people for his spare time and he is kinda acts more grown up doing that because maybe some other kids for their spare time would be playing around. Instead of helping people like Soun Tetoken does.
‘’My Wyakin gave me a gift of a wolf to take care of .’’
He takes good care of animals that don’t have home or that are hurt.He is a kind person to animals. I like the book with Soun Tetoken in it because it shows his adventures he has had in his life and his change that makes the hole book safer for his tribe.
The confession of Soun Tetoken
It is in 3rd person because it has the and they it makes it more adventurous because it shows what is happening in the book and shows details so you can see what it looks like. The narrator writes, ‘’THE frail little fellow was weak and awkward on his wobbly legs.¨ You can imagine a little foal or a filly when it is new born. The 3rd person perspective allows us to have more details that the main character might not have noticed.
’’The warrior is waving the red blanket he tell are people that the soldiers are coming.’’ ‘’The soldiers are trying to cross the river yelled the scout!’’ ‘’We count more than 3 hundred.’’ You can kinda feel maybe the way of emotions of what they would feel if a war were coming to them. ‘’The chief’s body was dressed in the finest clothes decorated with beautiful bead work and jewelry.’’ ‘’around his neck hung necklaces of beautiful shells, elk teeth bear claws ,and polished bone .’’ ’’the chiefs face was painted bright colors according to ancient custom.’’ ‘’The body was placed on a platform built about three feet above the ground and located under a giant fur tree.’’ ‘’There it would stay until buried two days later.’’ ‘’From the moment the people had left the meeting, woman who were close relatives of the chief began to cry out in high-pitched voices.’’
You can see how people would feel when you lost someone who was really important in your life or the chief who led you people and kept you safe and told you what to do when you were in trouble. It makes in more interesting in the book when the chief dies because you have to wait of how the journey is going to go with out there chief to tell them what to do.
Change in the main character
He starts to talking .’’Suddenly spun felt dizzy and his throat went dry.¨ ¨ His throat went tight .’’ ‘’Then with a feeling he had never experienced before, the panic-stricken boy opened his mouth and a miracle happened .’’ ‘’He made the first sounds he had made since he was a year old.’’ ‘’he called out a warning that would save his people.’’ ‘’The soldiers are coming! Tell our people ! wave your blanket before it’s too late.’’ He helped save his people by sending out a message with talking for his first time. I like third person in the book because you can see how the character changes in the book and good details that make you feel like you're in the book. Like how he starts to talk for his first time. It makes the book more interesting when the boy talks because he now can help his people more with his voice and he saved his people with his voice to make it so they could run from the war.
Why you should read this book
You should read this book because it tells about what it was like in the olden days if you like history it shows good details and specifics to read.It some parts of the books well most of the book it tells what it was really like in those days of history.
Third person(they and the) quotes (didn't count) I did the setting and change if it is in 3rd person and about the character and did why you should read this book and change in the main character.
Use a description of character setting,or event with specific quotes as an example of why you like or
dislike your book. ''He had trotted all the way from the little log house in Indian territory, across,Kansas, across , Missouri across Iowa and a long way into Minnesota.'' I like the book because there's good setting and explains were they go through the journey.
I would recommend reading all Kenneth Thomasma because if you like history Soun Tetoken is the book that would be good because it tell of what it was really like in history days. If you read this book I hope you enjoy it.
