Welcome back, Jubilee!
Never my favorite X-Man. In the Marvel/DC crossover, she “fought” Robin. Actually she made googly eyes at Robin and allowed herself to be tied up (because that’s what the Bat boys are into).
She has sparkly powers and Wolverine was a creepy mentor for her (she’s a teenaged girl with powers, it’s what he does).
Now she has a baby who’s a conduit for evil and she’s acquired vampire powers to boot.
This is the all-new (except for Storm’s Mohawk. That’s old and horrible.) all-female X-Men.
Marvel’s been trying to increase the amount of female centric titles and what better way than to subdivide from an already established product. Right? Even though you are using familiar characters (as opposed to the Fearless Defenders), the problem here is that it doesn’t feel organic. How can you justify an estrogenic approach to the X-Men? Where are the guys? Are they on vacation? Are they on an extended secret mission from continuity? Who knows?
That said, it’s not a bad volume, it just seems forced (and redundant).
X-Men #244, the first appearance of Jubilee, is also included here because there’s only four issues of the main story and Marvel had to pad this collection out with something else.
Basically the X-Women get tired of the Australian outback and want to do something exciting…so they go shopping (GAH!!) at a mall and run into these chumps.
