Read full description of the books:
I've always been interested in speculative fiction/horror, the history of the pulp and comics genres, and I enjoy anthologies. This ticks all my boxes.
I'd just come off of a roller coaster ride of a gut-punch read (Amanda Palmer's the art of asking) and i needed something i could set my mind in slightly neutral gear with and just enjoy the ride. This definitely fit the bill.
I borrowed the kindle version from the library and there were some formatting problems, but they weren't comprehensive or distracting (randomness in the page breaks and some typeface changes in the middle of the stories). The anthology stories are from the 1920s and read like it ... visions of H. R. Haggard, Derleth, Howard, etc etc.
The stories are varied in length, subject, and quality, but they're all entertaining and readable. I also liked the editor's historical background commentary and introductions.
Well worth a read.
